Players Annual Dinner & CJRDF Annual Gold Scrumble tournament July 11th and 12th 2008 The CRFU and CJRDF are delighted to announce that Gavin Hastings has agreed to join us this year for the annual black tie men's players dinner on July 11th as well as the Golf Scrumble on July 12th. For the first time ever these two events will be simultaneous with the Scrumble following on from the Friday night Dinner on Saturday. For a full bio on Gavin hastings click here
The Dinner will be held at the Marriott - 7pm - 1am. The Cayman Junior Rugby Development Fund -Annual Golf Scrumble The new look CJRDF annual scrumble will be held at the Brittania Golf Course. A morning and afternoon round will be offered to teams of four. There are two shotgun starts at 8am and 1pm and the format is better ball. Our Honored guest Gavin Hastings will be on hand to welcome back the morning teams in the Brittania club rooms for photo and social opportunities and will be shooting a round himself in the afternoon, with our title sponsors team. As per this year the morning round will have prizes in the form of bar tabs in the Rugby club rooms while the afternoon round will be predominantly for our corporate guests and sponsors. Each hole will have a prize for the longest drive of the day or the closest to the pin of the day, of course the $25,000 hole in one will be in effect and many other spot prizes will be awarded throughout the day long tournament. The winners can expect bigger and better prizes than in any years previous as we aim to ramp up this huge weekend. All golfers will receive a complimentary tournament and CRFU annual program as well as a commemorative golf sport shirt. At the conclusion of the day our Honored Guest Gavin Hastings will have a few words for us at the afternoon Barbeque to be held at the Hyatt Roof Terrace after which you will have yet more opportunity to catch up with one of the men who shaped modern Rugby and made the game the global sport that it is today. We are offering incentive packages to those that are interested in attending both the dinner and Golf functions as well as individual prices for either event. Cayman Junior Rugby Development Fund (CJRDF)- History and objectives
The CJRDF is a sub executive of the CRFU and it's sole function is to raise funds to promote Youth programs throughout the Cayman Islands. These include all school programs, community programs, academy programs and national youth programs. These funds pay for equipment, coaching, facilities and administration for these programs. Without these funds the youth programs simply would not exist. In 2007 with the generous help of sponsors, donors and grants the CRFU invested over a quarter of a million dollars into it's youth programs. Throughout the year more than two thousand children participated in rugby programs for anywhere from eight weeks to forty eight weeks giving them opportunities to participate in a team sport and activity no matter what shape, size or ability level they may be at and all at practically no cost. The CRFU goal is to offer every child between the ages of six and sixteen the opportunity to be involved with and play rugby on an annual basis in a safe, freindly and fun atmosphere.
